As Dubai’s original underwater restaurant, it offers a rather experimental approach to its cuisine.

The dining room is a little dark and soporific; and with its comfortable seats, hypnotic fish tank, easy-listening music and optional seven-course, four-hour dining experience, there could be a real risk of falling asleep in your food.

But chef Gregoire Berger keeps you wide awake with his unusual and clever dishes. Each plate is served with an evocative description.

Though seafood is the speciality – the scallops in particular – the meat dishes are no poor relation.
