It’s official, Rihanna is in an “exclusive relationship” with Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel. But who is he?
It’s been known since 2017 that Rihanna, international popstar, and Hassan Jameel, Saudi billionaire, were in some kind of relationship. It wasn’t until Rihanna spoke to a US-based publication recently and said their relationship has grown into something serious.
Rihanna has announced she ‘is’ dating Jameel and that she’s “actually in an exclusive relationship” for quite some time now, and it’s going really well.
Hassan Jameel makes up part of the Jameel family and is the middle son at 31 years old. The family is known as the 12th richest Arab family according to Forbes with a net worth of around US $1.5 billion.
His family owns Abdul Latif Jameel, a company that handles distribution for Toyota Motors throughout Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. Their company is responsible for distributing the vast majority of Toyota vehicles in the region, one of the most popular car brands in the world.
Hassan Jameel himself is the deputy president and vice chairman of the family business. He’s also the president of the company’s charitable efforts, Community Jameel Saudi Arabia, an organisation that focuses on “the social, cultural, educational, and economic development of individuals and communities in the Middle East region and beyond.”
The chairty works on providing job opportunities to younger generations, as well as fund small companies, strengthen the region’s culture and art industries, and provide key education and healthcare to young people.
The Jameel family has a lot of influence in Saudi Arabia, and is the top sponsor of the country’s national football league, dubbed as the ‘Jameel League’.
Rumours of his romantic entanglement with Rihanna began back in 2017 when the pair were photographed at a Spanish villa. The two have since been seen together multiple times over the years, including a recent family dinner in Santa Monica.
Speaking to Interview in the summer, she said she was and explained the importance of her time with Jameel:
“I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me. It was like, ‘I need to make time for this.’ Just like I nurture my businesses, I need to nurture this as well. I’ll shut things down for two days, three days at a time. On my calendar we now have the infamous ‘P,’ which means personal days. This is a new thing.”
With Jameel’s personal fortune, and Rihanna’s own fortune of around US $600 million, the couple clock in at a combined worth of US $2.1 billion. This puts their combined estimate worth above that of Beyonce and Jay-Z at US $1.15 billion.
