Zenith has just unveiled its latest Defy watch – the Classic Carbon – and it’s been given a full-body carbon makeover.
The new model includes the first ever full-carbon bracelet on an automatic watch, and also includes the traditional Defy case now crafted out of the same material.
Under that case – which measures 41mm – lies a skeletonized dial that gives the wearer views into the skeletonized Elite 670 SK movement, as well as an in-house automatic caliber (operating at a speedy 4Hz) with a 48-hour power reserve.
The whole timepiece tips the scales at just 65 grams when the bracelet is attached, and there’s also a rubber strap included for those wanting some variety.
“Up until now, so-called carbon fiber watch bracelets have either been superficial plaques of the composite material fixed to a metal base or reserved for a handful of highly complicated watches produced in very small numbers,” Zenith said about the launch.
“With the DEFY Classic Carbon, Zenith brings forth an ergonomic and eye-catching solid carbon bracelet to an automatic watch, an unprecedented technical feat and edgy design statement.”
The Zenith Defy Classic Carbon will be available at select boutiques in the region later this month, as well as online.
It costs around US$19,500 for the bracelet version, and US$11,600 for the rubber strap.
