But will it make speeding through check-in any easier?

Montblanc wants to make trekking through airport terminals that much quicker, by partnering up with racing tire maker Pirelli for a new luggage collection.

The shell itself is made from lightweight polycarbonate, with a branded strap around the exterior. Unlike fabric exteriors on these types of cases, this one will keep your belongings dry on rainy days. It also stops anything from being crushed by an accident-prone baggage handler.

The wheels were designed based on the real thing, Pirelli’s treaded P Zero tires. They were built to glide smoothly over a range of surfaces, and can rotate 360-degrees. The brand says they were engineered with squeaky airport floors in mind and are pretty much silent.

The case will fit neatly in overhead storage making it ideal for carrying-on. It comes with an adjustable telescoping handle.

This isn’t the first time that Montblanc has worked with a tire expert; last year it teamed up with BMW to create a five-piece set of cases that were made in Florence, Italy.

The Montblanc x Pirelli collection is available right now for US$1,280.
