Angry Game of Thrones fans aren’t done with petitions yet as new petition to stop Benioff and Weiss from working on Star Wars is gaining traction

The petition has already amassed 16,000 signatures at the time of writing

The duo are set to write and produce for the three upcoming Star Wars films that kick off in 2022
Game of Thrones really didn’t satisfy the fans in the final season, and this has been majorly blamed on writers for the show, David Benioff and DB Weiss. Now, with the news that the duo will take on the writing and producing of Star Wars, fans are angrier than ever.
Born out of this news was the petition ‘Keep Game of Thrones writers away from Star Wars!’, which right now has 16,000 signatures, along with another very similar petition also having 7,000.
The petition was created by an angry fan working under the name ‘George R.R. Martin’ and is sent to go to Disney. The petition explains that:
“Putting the Game of Thrones writers (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss) in charge of Star Wars is not only a controversial decision but a mistake, plain and simple.”
“It is in the company’s best interest to remove David Benioff and D.B. Weiss as writers on their upcoming film. The writers have a crutch for plot devices and rushed stories, with emphasis on “shock and awe” storytelling and eager to leave projects half-finished when they have other projects on the horizon. Their respect of lore alone does not make them fit for this project.”
The duo are currently set to write and produce the three upcoming Star Wars films, with the first of the films predicted to launch in 2022.
We’ll see how successful a campaign this turns out to be, bear in mind that the very popular petition to have the final Game of Thrones season remade never really had an impact.
If you feel as angry as 16,000 others, you can look at the petition here.
