SPOILERS AHEAD FOR GOT SEASON 8 RECENT EPISODE
- HBO has recieved petitions and tens of thousands of signatures that call for a Season 8 re-shoot
- While the entire season has disappointed fans, the most recent episode seems to have been the final straw
- The fact that season 6 – 8 were not based on the books are partially to blame
Following the wide-panning from the internet about the last episode of Game of Thrones – The Bells – show creators surely have a ringing in their ears from all the screaming fans.
The Bells was the last straw in this disappointing season, full of weird character decisions, lazy producing, and finishing up storylines too quickly for fans’ taste.
What enflamed fans so much in The Bells was Daenerys Targaryen, Queen of the Dragons, complete departure from her own character and morals in burning King’s Landing to the ground. Besides the Landing being turned to dust, it seems the respect for the GoT writers has turned to dust also as tens of thousands of fans stand in agreement for a Season 8 re-do.
A petition on Change.org might make HBO finally listen, with the creator of the petition saying: “David Benioff and DB Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” it says: “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
Maybe those behind Thrones don’t care all that much, The Bells stands as the most-watched episode in the history of the show, and angry viewers pay just the same as happy ones after all.
Much of the Season’s failure has been placed on how it – much like two seasons before it – has ignored following any of George R.R. Martin’s works, instead flying solo, and flying right into a brick wall it seems.
Still, we all know you’ll probably still watch the final ever episode, airing Sunday at 9 P.M in the U.S. and 2 A.M. for the UK.
