Thousands of people have signed a petition to make Danny DeVito the next Wolverine.
The petition – which is on change.org – has just surpassed 5,000 signatures (and counting). The author says that Marvel Studios should cast Devito as Wolverine.
“We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then the only man able to pull it off is Danny Devito,” says the petition’s creator. He is “the only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman”.
Fan petitions are currently a hot topic, as more than 1-million people have signed a petition asking HBO to re-film the entirety of Game of Thrones Season 8.
Marvel Studio boss Kevin Feige said earlier this month that no X-Men characters would be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for “a very long time”. This comes after the Disney and Fox merger which sees Marvel regain control of iconic comic book characters such as the X-Men and The Fantastic Four.
“It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set,” Feige said. “So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”
