Mercedes-Benz is increasing its electric vehicle range, with a new scooter.
The idea behind the eScooter is that drivers keep them in their cars to finish off the last few kilometres of their journey. The new scooter boasts zero emissions, and was created in partnership with Swiss fim Micro Mobility Systems AG.
Mercedes-Benz says that likes its traditional motors, the scooter is meant to last for a very long time. It has been built using high-end materials, and the German automaker says that it will last for more than 5,000 kilometres.
As the scooter is meant to be carted around with you in the boot, the eScooter was made to be packed up small and incredibly light. It currently tips the scales at less than 15 kilograms.
Mercedes-Benz has said that it has a rigid suspension system and thick rubber wheels, making it good on all types of urban terrain, such as cobblestones.
Under the hood, you’ll get a 500 watt motor that will propel you to speeds just shy of 20-kilometres-per-hour. A single charge will be good for 24-kilometres, which should be more than enough ground for a regular day’s work.
Mercedes-Benz has not said when the scooter will be available, however it has chosen to show it off via a release trailer.
In other news, not many cars have received the same level of fanfare that Tesla’s all-electric Cybertruck has received since its debut in November.
The car is still in production and unavailable, and yet there has never been a longer line of people waiting for the electric truck to arrive.
The good news is that production appears to be going well, and the Cybertruck is on track to be delivered on schedule. The bad news; that schedule won’t see Tesla Cybertrucks on UAE roads until late next year (and perhaps even early 2022).
