The all-new electric Hummer is a year away from hitting roads (at minimum) but that hasn’t stopped off-road lovers from putting down pre-orders for the motor.
According to GMC, the Hummer Edition 1 sold 10,000 cars in just 10 minutes of going up for pre-order via the GMC website. That’s ten orders every second.
With such an incredible amount of demand for the car, it’s thought that GMC will quickly up first-year production of the battery-powered off-roader.
The re-made Hummer was announced earlier in the year. The Edition 1 comes with a three-motor powertrain under the hood, capable of delivering 1,000 horsepower. The company also said that a year after the first production version was delivered, there would be a fully-loaded off-road variant.
It’s not yet known just how many Edition 1 cars GMC will put into production (but the fact that it sold out after just 10,000 units suggests not many). But due to its sheer popularity, it’s thought that GMC wildly underestimated just how much interest there would be in an electric off-roader or a re-make of the Hummer brand.
