Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the game that Dragon Ball fans have been wanting to see for the past decade.
Pretty much indistinguishable from the visuals in the historic anime series, the game takes players through four major story arcs – including Saiyan, Freiza, Cell and Buu sagas.
In some ways, Kakarot makes more sense than the actual series, as developer CyberConnect2 has inserted backstory elements that explain what’s going on, and why it’s so important.
Players take on the role of Goku, once known as Kakarot, a boy with a monkey’s tail who ends up becoming one of the most pow2rful warriors in the universe.
While the game isn’t quite the open world of Grand Theft Auto, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is divided into subsections of varying size, that lets players roam around looking for collectables or combat opportunities.
That said, it is battle where the game’s primary focus lies – with moves from the series replicated along with a complicated combat progression system. As per the show, the game is all about attaining your final, most powerful, form.
More importantly, you can get through the game quicker than sitting down to re-watch DBZ’s nine-season run.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
