It’s blue sky thinking for Virgil Abloh’s newest instalment

It was blue sky thinking as Louis Vuitton showcased its FW2020 collection back in Paris for Fashion Week.

Always the showman, the LV menswear designer Abloh sent down an array of tailored looks inspired by “Heaven”, with the show’s notes addressing the importance of the collection being “open-minded and free, even in the constructs of formal menswear.”

Seen as one of the fore-fathers of the rise of lux-streetwear, Abloh’s collection went heavy on tailoring and the tapered suit, but with a very contemporary take where classic lines were twisted and turned. Or as LV put it: “the dress codes of an old-world are neutralized, re-appropriated, and embraced for a progressive joie de vivre.”

The items were dressed in seasonal appropriate colour palettes of mahogany browns, blacks, and greys, while more airy blues and vibrant pinks were featured on the layering items.

We also saw some of outfits embellished with LV logos recreated as Louis Vuitton-shaped clouds. Intricate stitching and patterns were also showcased on the formal wear, creating a cut-out-like effect.
