Our favourite bags, belts and more the storied Italian label

Tod’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection is here, and available in select boutiques around the region.

This marked the first time we’ve seen Tod’s creative director Walter Chiapponi’s vision for the Italian brand’s menswear range, and the results were very impressive indeed.

Generally, the new collection was based around a group of brand representatives (the ideal Tod’s wearer in other words), dubbed the ‘T Club’. Chiapponi was careful not to overstep the mark with his first collection, and paid tribute to Tod’s house style (classically masculine and elegant pieces, traditional silhouettes) but was not afraid to add some panache when it came to details.

Tod’s heritage in leather is well-known, and much of the collection’s outerwear included tasteful leather details that hark back to that history.

In accessories, that took the form of the brand’s playful ‘T” monogram, which can be seen across belts and bag buckles. As well as duffels produced from the same suede material as Tod’s iconic gommino driving shoes.

Chiapponi obviously had fun when it came to sunglasses, however. Expect bright, colourful lenses in yellow, purple and blue, on classic frames and materials.

It is always interesting to see someone’s first collection for a storied brand such as Tod’s. This marks the only time we have seen Chiapponi’s take on the brand, and it has turned out to be quite respectful towards Tod’s historic house style.
