Prada’s new Linea Rossa collection looks the business, but is made from a futuristic new fabric that can help regulate body temperature.
Known as Extreme-Tex, the eco-material was made exclusively for Prada over the past three years. It is made from recycled polyester, and it is both water-repellent and durable. As an added bonus, the material also helps thermoregulate body temperature. It also has antibacterial properties, too.
Prada has said the new material is a great example of how fabrics can be made in a responsible manner.
The fabric has been made into men’s overcoats and trousers, as well as t-shirts for women. Prada calls the collection ‘techno classics’, as they follow a boxy silhouette with lightweight padding and an unfussy aesthetic.

Apart from the special material, pieces were constructed by recycled yarns like jersey and nylon.
The Linea Rossa collection was first released back in 1997. At the time, it redefined luxury sportswear from purely functional pieces to ones that made a style statement also. The new line shows that 23 years on, Prada still knows a thing about reinvention.
