Introducing the Esquire Middle East June cover star: Tahar Rahim.
“My brother said if you stay here, you know what the future holds. If you take that train, you don’t know what is going to happen. So I said, ‘f**k it’ and I got on that f**king train!”
Rahim has long been a risk-taker with the roles he chooses, from his breakout role in 2009’s A Prophet, to his Golden Globe 2021-nominated turn in The Mauritanian, to Netflix’s The Serpent.
Before that, he took the biggest risk of his life, getting on a train to Paris to try to become a professional actor with no prospects, no contacts, €1,000 to his name and nowhere to stay.
