A marketing masterclass

Nike’s marketing team are really on roll.  Not content with the success of their brilliant Bobby Cannavale baby advert (which if you haven’t seen yet: Just do it), the second installment of their “Unlimited Campaign” has been released and it’s just as good as the first. Titled “Unlimited You”, the video hails both everyday athletes and internationally recognized superstars as they push themselves past the limits of their human capacity.

Whether it’s jumping off a cliff or challenging a world-renowned sprinter to a 100m dash, this advert has got it all. Released just in time for the Olympic fever to hit, this advert is guaranteed to get you off the sofa and straight into a gym. With Nike also hoping that you’ll wear some form of their merchandise whilst you do so.

Directed by Los Angeles based directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who have recently garnered buzz for their film Swiss Army Man which stars Daniel Radcliffe, Paul Dano and lots of flatulence, the advert delivers style in spades. Known collectively as Daniels, the out-there directing twosome are more accustomed to directing music videos than adverts – they’re the ones you have to thank for Lil Jon’s now-iconic ‘Turn Down for What’ music video – but it seems like the two have found very little difficulty in transitioning their talent into this new format.

We can only see their success increasing from here on in, proving Nike’s “Unlimited You” relates to far more than just the athletes featured. Wryly narrated by actor Oscar Isaac, this advert has more cameos than an Edwardian antique collector. Just check it out for yourself and see if you can spot them all.

It’s pretty tough, right? Littered with the world’s best athletes including Giancarlo Stanton, Kevin Durant, Aaron Gordan, Mo Farah, English Gardner, Neymar Jr., Nyjah Huston, Serena Williams, Su BingTian, and Zach LaVine, Nike seem to be pulling out all the stops in their attempt get the regular joe interested in sport.

There’s even a brief appearance from Hafþór Björnsson, the immeasurable Mountain from Game of Thrones, and he’s not a man we’d really want to disagree with. So get out there and get moving now and you might just get in shape in time for the 2020 Tokyo Oympics.
