What you need to know about the UAE’s free vaccine, as well as where to go to get it

The UAE now has COVID-19 vaccines on tap, and is letting members of the UAE public register their interest in receiving it.

The voluntary programme started in Abu Dhabi, but has now spread to Dubai. We have a full list of clinics and hospitals where residents can now go to pick up the COVID-19 vaccine in the Emirates.

But there’s a few things to know about it first:

Want a detailed list of where to get vaccinated in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sarjah and Ras Al Khaimah? Head over to Time Out Dubai.

Which vaccine does the UAE have?

At the beginning of the vaccination program, UAE had stocks of the Sinopharm vaccine which requires two doses three weeks apart. It was successfully trialed in the UAE this summer.

Since then, the UAE has picked up doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine – however only some members of the UAE public (namely, those with pre-existing conditions) are eligible for it.

How do I get the free vaccine?

In Dubai you can pick up the vaccine at Alittihad Health Center, Hor Al Anz Health Center and Al Qusais Health centre.

In Abu Dhabi, the vaccine is available at all Seha-run clinics and hospitals that are run by VPS Healthcare.

Remember, you will need to bring along your Emirates ID and health insurance / healthcare cards that must be produced on arrival.

What about the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine?

There are currently six Dubai health facilities that are administering the vaccine, including: Zabeel Primary Health Care Centre, Nad Al Hamr Primary Health Care Centre, Al Mizhar Primary Health Care Centre, Barsha Primary Health Care Centre, Uptown Mirdif Medical Fitness Centre and Hatta Hospital.

However, only Emiratis and residents over the age of 60, people with chronic diseases, frontline workers, vital sector workers, and people of determination and members of the public can get vaccinated.

To check whether or not you have access to that vaccine, you can register here.
