The country’s rainy period is scheduled to start later this week

Get your bi-annual umbrella handy; the UAE’s rainy season is expected to start later this week on October 16.

The rains associated with the ‘Wasm’ season are expected to hit this weekend, and will bring with it cooler temperatres and more pleasant weather.

According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, “Al Wasm season starts on October 16 and ends on December 6. Winter comes soon after,” he said.

During the UAE’s rainy season, temperatures can drop to as low as 10-degrees centigrade.

In the last few days, rain and hail has hit parts of the Northern Emirates. It is expected to become humid again over the next few days, but that will dissipate once the rain arrives.
