The museum will celebrate the cultural contributions of the Red Sea coast

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture has said it will set up the Red Sea Museum in Jeddah. The museum will open in 2022.

The Museum, which will be located in the Bab Al Bunt building, will include rare manuscripts, pictures and books that tell the story of the historical site. Thousands of years ago, Jeddah was a major gateway for pilgrims, merchants and tourists.

The Red Sea Museum will celebrate the cultural value that the Red Sea coast represents, and include attractions that celebrate maritime navigation, trade, geology, pilgrimage and diversity.

There will also be unique cultural elements, that will show how the cities of Jeddah, Mecca and Madinah have changed over the years.

The museum will include more than 100 artworks, as well as both permanent and temporary exhibitions. It will be suitable for all age groups.

The museum will open up in a historic area of Jeddah, which is home to many other museums, historic mosques and old markets. Al Khozam Palace Museum, which was built over 80-years ago, was one of the first buildings in the city to use reinforced concrete.
