In space, no one can hear you slurp

Japanese food company Nissin has created instant Cup Noodles for astronauts to take into space.

Previously, it has been impossible for astronauts to enjoy a friendly cup o’ noodle due to the fact that water on the International Space Station does not heat up to 100-degrees. Water on the ISS is only ever at 70-degrees, which is not enough temperature to cook a noodle.

Fortunately, Nissin has solved this particular problem that no one but astronauts knew they had by creating special packages of cup noodle that will cook at 70-degrees. The new Space Cup Noodles feature a thicker noodle, and a more viscous broth to account for the lack of gravity in space.

According to Nissin, there are seven space noodles including Chicken Ramen, Seafood, Curry and the original Cup Noodle, along with Yakisoba, Keema Curry and Hayashi Meshi.

According to Nissin, the Cup Noodles were developed with help from Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who said he wanted to be able to eat noodles on his next trip in to space.

And indeed, his wish will soon come true when he takes up a batch on his next mission to the ISS.
