The Turkish chef and social media star has given funds to the Red Crescent

Turkish chef Nusret Gokce, better known to the world as Salt Bae, has joined forces with the Turkish Red Crescent to raise money, and help people affected by the August 4 blast in Beirut.

He fronted an appeal for the charity that helped raise US$60,000 in just one day, using the chef’s Istanbul restaurant of Nusr Et.

Gokce is now part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and its “We Are Family” campaign.

The chef asked donors to pledge support for the thousands of people affected and wounded by the Beirut explosion that killed 190 people and has affected thousands more.

In a video posted to Twitter, Gokce and his team are seen marking toward the kitchen. It comes with the caption “Let’s go to work for Beirut”.

If you want to donate money to help those affected by the blast, visit the Lebanese Red Cross.
