The designer is introducing a totally re-imagined Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Codenamed Project Geländewagen – Virgil Abloh is about to launch a totally re-imagined G-Class in partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

The Louis Vuitton creative director and the German automaker teased the collaboration earlier in the year. Now we are just minutes away from the full reveal. You can watch it on YouTube right here:

It is expected that Virgil Abloh will produce a one-off G-Wagon concept that will be auctioned off. The auction winner will obviously receive the car, but also be given access to both Virgil Abloh and Mercedes-Benz Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener.

Speaking of the partnership and the artwork that he has created, Abloh said, “Mercedes-Benz is a brand that stands for luxury and exceptional performance. Truly a perfect chassis to interject modern artists’ ideas of what the future can be stylistically, within conceptual car design.”

“The next step in pushing Mercedes-Benz design is our collaboration with Virgil Abloh,” added Mercedes-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener.

“We are set to create something unseen in both of our branches.” Bettina Fetzer, vice president marketing at Mercedes-Benz AG, agreed: “Teaming up with Virgil Abloh, one of the most influential and inspiring creatives of our time, represents Mercedes-Benz’s idea of zeitgeist, co-creation and contemporary luxury.”

So far both Mercedes and Abloh have been rather quiet on the collection. But we don’t have long to wait. The new collaboration will be launched in a few minutes time.
