Modesty?

The Batman star Robert Pattinson has said he doesn’t “really know how to act”.

The actor was doing promotional rounds for his forthcoming film, The Lighthouse, when he made the surprising admission, explaining how he would “drink mud from puddles” and “punch himself in the face” before scenes to force himself into character.

Weird.

“Because I don’t really know how to act, I kind of wanted to somehow make it real, and one of the ways I’ve always thought makes that a little bit easier is if you shake up your physical state just before action,” he told the Observer.

“You end up walking into a scene having a different . . . feeling.”

The Lighthouse stars Robert alongside Willem Dafoe as lighthouse keepers slowly slipping into insanity on a remote island.

Directed by Robert Eggers (The Witch), the film sees Robert take part in a “ferocious masturbation” scene.
It also saw him go naked for the first full day of shooting.

The Lighthouse is in cinemas from January 31, 2020. The Batman has a release date of June 25, 2021.
