Colin Farrell is in talks to join the cast of The Batman, and join Robert Pattinson. It is rumored he will take on the role of The Penguin.
Also in talks to join the new DC film is Andy Serkis, who would play Alfred Pennyworth, the superhero’s famous butler.
The film – directed by Matt Reeves – is nearing completion. Farrell will follow in the footsteps of Dany DeVito, Burgess Meredith and Robin Lord Taylor, all of whom have previously played the villainous character.
Andy Serkis seems primed to move away from the world of Marvel (he played Ulysses Klaue in both Avengers and Black Panther) and into the DC universe if cast as Alfred.
Meanwhile, some other actors have been confirmed in the new Batman movie, including Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) who will play The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) who will take on the role of Commissioner Gordon.
Warner Bros. plans to release The Batman in the United States on June 25, 2021. Shooting is expected to begin later this year, and early 2020.
