If you own a MacBook Pro, it might be a good idea to leave it at home if you’re travelling soon. An Emirates spokesperson confirmed that the airline will no longer allow you to check in some MacBook Pro models, and it will not be allowed on board as carry-on baggage either.
The affected models are Apple’s 15 inch MacBook Pros sold between September 2015 and February 2017. Emirates isn’t the only airline to ban MacBook Pros.
Etihad Airways has also issued a statement saying: “Following a safety-related recall of some Apple MacBook Pro laptop computers, Etihad Airways has banned the carriage of MacBook Pro computers in checked luggage.”
How can you find out if you laptop is at risk?
You can either take your MacBook to an Apple shop where they can check the serial number or you can look up your machine online through the MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program.
