No one ever wants the middle seat on an airplane. Most people don’t like airplane seats at all, unless you are in business or first class, but realistically that isn’t always possible.
Sometimes you are stuck in the middle, right down in economy class, and you just have to deal with it, most of the time, anyway. This however, might change. You might change your mind all together about the middle seat, and not mind it at all.
A new start up based in Colorado, Molon Labe Seating has designed a new middle seat for airplanes. Though it has not been seen yet, it was certified by the Federal Aviation Administration last month.
The seat won’t fix all “ issues” faced by sitting in the middle, but it will certainly make it less uncomfortable.
What’s so special about it? The seat is designed to provide more comfort by being 3-5 inches wider, and lower in height. The seat is also slightly behind both, the window and aisle seat, providing more shoulder room for the middle seat. The seat’s armrest will also be slightly different. Its shape will be different, having two different levels, so that all three seats have their own elbow space.
The seats are being manufactured by Primus Aerospace in Colorado, and are intended for domestic flights, however they might be seen on longer flights as well as more features on the new seat.
The new improved seats might be available by May 2020.
