Not a fan of airplane food? Well whether you enjoy airplane food or not, Air France is about to step up their culinary game.
Known for his classic take on French cuisine, Michelin starred chef Daniel Rose, will be creating special dishes for Air France’s flights on business, and first class.
But there’s a catch. Only passengers travelling to the US and Paris starting September will be able to taste the new menu.
Rose is originally from Chicago, and studied in Paris, which is where he fell in love with the culinary arts. He is known for his restaurant, Le Coucou, which opened in 2016.
Le Coucou quickly earned a James Beard Award for America’s Best New Restaurant, and its well-deserved Michelin star a few years later.
Some of the dishes included on Air France’s inflight menu are cod with turnip and ‘beurre blanc,’ warm poultry pate with foie gras, and poultry gratin with onions.
Air France asked Rose to create special dishes for the airline’s menu as part of a programme launched in 2011 which features Michelin starred chefs the company recognises as amabssadors of French cuisine. Every few months, Air France would bring in a well-known chef to create dishes for business and first class menus on long haul international flights.
Some chefs previously featured include Joël Robuchon, Guy Martin, Michel Roth and Thibaut Ruggeri.
