Dubai to London in three hours sounds like the ultimate travel dream. Thanks to Boom Supersonic, it very soon may be possible – for the same price as a business class seat.
On its website, Boom says: “Our Mach-2.2 airliner will make the world dramatically more accessible—-at today’s business-class fares.”
The Denver-based company has been developing a 55-seat commercial airliner that is capable of travelling at twice the speed of sound and has raised $100 million from investors to help it build the supersonic aircraft.

Currently the same journey takes approximately seven hours.
The Boom Supersonic XB-1 airliner plans to smash the record held by the Concorde that operated from 1976 until 2003. It had a maximum speed over twice the speed of sound at Mach 2.04.
The Concorde
Named Overture, the aircraft will be quieter than the Concorde and is triple-engined carbon fiber-bodied. It will cost $200 million per aircraft and reach speeds of more than 2,334 kilometres per hour and will be half the size of the famous Concorde.
The expected launch date is 2020 and both the Virgin Group and Japan Airlines have placed orders for the planes.
Additional routes will include San Francisco to Tokyo in five and a half hours, and Sydney to Los Angeles in seven hours.
