You probably missed one of the most epic fights in the history of UFC this weekend. MMA fighter Anderson Silva faced his younger nemesis Israel Adesanya at UFC 234 in Australia this weekend.
It was not a fairytale ending for Silva who lost the fight to his younger and undefeated opponent in a unanimous decision by the judges: 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28. However he did end up impressing UFC star Conor McGregor, who said he would be ‘honoured’ to fight the MMA veteran.
Anderson is one crafty, crafty Martial Artist.
You only develop these methods through years of hard fought experience.
Phenomenal performance.
The crafty veteran. Big respect always.
It would be an honor!— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) February 10, 2019
What was truly impressive, is despite critics thinking he wouldn’t be able to keep up with his opponent, Silva matched Adesanya move for move. However, Adesanya brought a 15-0 record into his fight against Silva.
In a touching moment after the fight, Silva was heard saying to Adesanya: “I pass the baton onto you.”
