No one wants to see their personal life aired in public, splashed across the tabloids, but sadly, if you’re a public figure known for your wealth and lavish spending, you don’t really have much choice. That is the case for Chelsea football club’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, who – it was announced in a joint statement from the two – is set to spilt from his socialite wife, Dasha Zhukova, after 10 years of marriage.
Rumour has it that an alleged argument between the two over plans for their AED1.7 billion island in St. Petersburg. Abramovich supposedly wanting to turn it into a cultural hub, with Zhukova prefering to see it become an Ibiza-style party island.
Abramovich launched into the public eye after he bought Chelsea, and liberally spent his money turning them into one of the world’s richest clubs. Today he is listed as the world’s 139th richest man, with a current net worth is an estimated AED33 billion. His divorce from Zhukova will be his third – and his most expensive.
Considering that his previous divorce – one which was directly related to his close relationship with Zhukova – cost him a settlement reported as being AED1.1 billion. That eye-watering number will seem miniscule as art enthusiast Zhukova is entitled to half of his assets.
As we all being the owner of private investment company Millhouse LLC; Evraz – a multinational steel and mining company – and a major shareholder of Norilsk Nickel, Abramovich owns art galleries, private mansions, a private jet, and a more than one private islands.
The good news for any ladies, however, is that he is now single again.
