What are your favourite wardrobe items?
I actually have two: my 1980 Breguet watch and my Arthur Sleep Turkish fabric loafers.
How would you describe your style?
Eclectic and exotic but composed. I always need a dash of colour in my outfits and some sort of pattern. Being in the art world, which is constantly evolving, my day-to-day activities can take me from the stacks, to the galleries, to boardroom meetings and glamorous parties.
What does your style say about you?
I have quite an outgoing persona and I think that is definitely reflected in my style. I always try to blend traditional Persian and Arabic patterns with a touch of European style. I am always keen on exploring new regions of the world and new cultures, which eventually ends up tied in with my fashion sense, blending the past and present.
What style advice can you give our readers?
Don’t be afraid of mixing colours. In the art world, people are generally more creative with their clothing as it is not a stone-cold corporate environment. Employees and customers tend to have the confidence to dress interestingly, and the reason for this is because if they have a good eye for art they will most likely have a good eye for fashion as well.
What’s the best style advice you’ve ever been given?
Always wear socks! I carelessly ignored that.
How has your style changed as you’ve got a bit older?
It has matured, of course. With new responsibilities at work came the need to dress accordingly. I do however always try to stay true to myself.
Does your style change when you travel?
Yes, there are some places where you can be a bit more ‘out there’ and others where being conservative is a must. It’s interesting to adapt cuts and fabrics to different climates when you travel around.
