What’s your favourite wardrobe item and why?
A handkerchief, because its pattern or colour can often reveal a lot about a man’s true personality, even in the most conservative of business or in any social environments.
How would you describe your style?
Modern classic with hints of exuberance.
What does your style say about you?
One’s style and personality are mirror reflections of each other. Those who are conservative tend to dress conservatively and vice versa for those who are extroverts. I tend to be caught in the middle, which is why I prefer clean lines and simplicity mixed in with colourful patterned accents.
What’s the best style advice you can give our readers?
Follow your own personal style and sartorial intuition rather than current fashion trends.
What’s the best style advice you’ve ever been given?
My parents said, “It’s better to be over-dressed than underdressed”.
How has your style changed as you’ve got a bit older?
Over time my style has become definitive and subtly expressive via good tailoring, quality materials and predominantly rich dark colours. Dressing loud is something that I no longer do.
Does your style change when you travel?
Travelling abroad often permits me to wear heavier clothes due to colder seasons, especially leather and trench jackets; in addition to this, knitted sweaters and scarves. It’s a nice change from time to time.
What three wardrobe items can you not live without?
Slim-line dark suits, handkerchiefs and cuff links. However, my Prada loafers come in a close fourth.
