Twitter wants to get into the audio game, and is testing out live audio features ahead of a larger role out next year.
Twitter Spaces is an audio chat room that lets users of the social media platform create a ‘space’ that is then filed with followers. While only the host can control who is involved and who can speak, anyone on Twitter will have the ability to listen.
It’s a little bit like Twitter’s micro-blogging service, mixed in with something like Discord.
Emoji reactions can be sent from watchers/listeners of the Space (much like Twitter’s live-streaming platform Periscope) and it is thought that automatic transcriptions are also going to be part of the feature set.
While this is just a test now, it’s thought that Twitter will be rolling it out next year.
