Recently, social media’s biggest platform has started to lose its shine. Facebook is now seen as an ‘old person’s social media’ and the kids can’t be seen doing anything as basic as hanging out with their parents (online). As such, with most teenagers moving towards newer apps, Facebook has been trying hard to get back its ‘cool-ness’.
According to The Next Web, Facebook appears to be testing a group video chat app that they call ‘Bonfire’; the app that will clearly be created to encourage younger Facebook users to engage more.
Similarly to House party, Facebook’s latest addition allows users to hold video chats with multiple people at the same time; only change is you’re allowed to add Snapchat-like effects.
All you need to do is notify your friends on Messenger; and upon their confirmation, the screen splits into equal spaces for you to start socializing.
At the moment, the app is exclusive to the Danish App store. The app’s 2,000 Danish users seem to be quite happy with the new platform; it’s all positive reviews on the app’s page.
Could this be the next big thing? Only time will tell.
