BMW has finally unveiled the big-bore cruiser the two-wheeled world has been waiting for at Italy’s Villa d’Este: the BMW R18 concept.
The R18 is a beast of a cruiser, but it’s still just a concept (so BMW are still tight-lipped with regards to exact specs and costs). What BMW did mention is that the whopper of an engine is air-and-oil cooled and has an 1,800cc capacity.
BMW didn’t have to tell us that it’s also drop-dead gorgeous.
For those unawares, Ville d’Este has quickly become one of the most prestigious motor gatherings in the world. Located on lake como, it’s a classy affair (think seersucker jackets and panama hats and vintage cars).
The exposed drive shaft makes the R18 look overly aggresive, and BMW has already said it’s a feature that will make it onto future production bikes. It rolls along on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels.
Elsewhere it sports a classic teardrop fuel tank, a single seat and abbreviated fenders. Even the paintjob is spot on classic bike chic; a combination of paino black and double white pin-stripes.
