Not many cars have received the same level of fanfare that Tesla’s all-electric Cybertruck has received since its debut in November.
The car is still in production and unavailable, and yet there has never been a longer line of people waiting for the electric truck to arrive.
The good news is that production appears to be going well, and the Cybertruck is on track to be delivered on schedule. The bad news; that schedule won’t see Tesla Cybertrucks on UAE roads until late next year (and perhaps even early 2022).
That said, there are still ways to get your hands on a Tesla Cybertruck in the UAE – most notably by pre-ordering it. Tesla fans in the country can register their interest and put down a nominal pre-payment of AED500 via Tesla’s website.
That will put you first in line when the car eventually arrives.
When Tesla’s Cybertruck was unveiled it attracted one heck of a media storm (not just because during the unveiling two of its windows were smashed).
From a design point-of-view, the electric pickup throws everything you thought you knew about car design out the window. There are no rounded corners or aerodynamic lines, just sharp edges and dramatic angles.
When it does eventually arrive on UAE roads, the Cybertruck will be available in three different models. The entry-level features a single motor and rear-wheel drive, whereas the next two will have two and three motors and all-wheel drive respectively.
The top-specced model will go from zero to 100 in less than three seconds (which is unheard of in the truck world).
When the Cybertruck does arrive proper, the most affordable model is expected to cost around AED150,000. While international variants will come with the option to add Tesla’s autopilot function (for an extra AED30,000) it’s not known whether that feature will arrive in the UAE.
