Dwayne Johnson has revealed who will play him in ‘Young Rock’, the autobiographical sitcom coming to NBC next year.
Three different actors will play him over the years, ranging from ten to twenty years-old. Adam Groulx will play him at the age of ten, Bradley Constant will be 15-year-old Johnson while Uli Latukefu will be The Rock from 18-20 years.
As for the family, Ana Tuisila will be Johnson’s grandmother, Stacey Leilua will be his mother and Joseph Lee Anderson will play his dad.
Along with the announcement, Dwayne Johnson dedicated the pilot episode to his father.
“As you guys know my dad passed away earlier this year so this role is a special one and our first episode is dedicate to him,” Johnson said.
“My dad was a true trail blazer and broke color barriers all across our country in the 60s, 70s & 80s. One half of the first black tag team champions (with Tony Atlas) my pops was a bad dude in the game. I miss him.”
Not a huge amount else is known about the production, but we do know it will be a light-hearted approach to some of the challenge Johnson had growing up.
In other news, it looks like the DC Universe is starting to wake up again; after giving the greenlight to Matt Reeves’ Batman spinoff, it is now producing a Suicide Squad spinoff series called Peacemaker.
The eight-episode season will star John Cena as the titular character, and will be directed by James Gun – who previously directed Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy.
