The Frankfurt Motor Show is fast approaching, but even faster though is the latest Lamborghini, the Sián. It’s the brand’s most powerful production car ever (which is saying a lot) and Lambo’s first attempt at hybrid-tech.
As Lamborghini owners will no doubt realize, the only thing you do more than drive aroud is stand at the petrol-pump. But that now might be about to change.
The Sián will use the same engine in the Aventador SVJ, the 6.5-litre V12 which provides SVJ 770 horsepower. Where the Sián differs is its 48-volt mild-hybrid system, adding 34 horsepower for a grand total of 819 horsepower and making it the beefiest production Lambo ever.
According to Motor1 that colossal amount of power is directed to the wheels though a seven-speed automatic gearbox with adaptive shift controls depending on the driving mode.
The car also sports an electronically-controlled all-wheel-drive system with rear mechanical self-locking differential as to improve steering and agility.
As the engines in the SVJ and Sián are the same, both cars have a 2.8-second 0 to 62 mph stat, as well as the electronically-limited top speed of 217 mph. Thanks to the electronic tech, the Sián pulls ahead from its predecessor in the 19 to 37 mph and the 43 to 74 mph by 0.2 and 1.2 seconds respectively.
Head of Design at Lamborghini, explains:
“The fastest Lamborghini must be a visual and symphonic feast, as remarkable to those who see it pass by as those privileged to drive it,“ Mitja Borkert, It takes inspiration from the Countach, but the Sián is a futuristic icon, not retrospective.”
The car is similar to that of the Terzo Millennio concept from 2017 (picture above). The car’s defining feature is the hexagonal LED taillights and striking front bonnet shape, a shape Lambo used to tease the upcoming car.
“Exclusivity is enhanced by total Ad Personam personalization that every one of the 63 Sian owners has the privilege of creating, in conjunction with me and the Centro Stile team: 63 individuals worldwide will own not only the fastest, but a unique Lamborghini,” the lead designer adds.
Officially debuting next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show from September 10-22 (first two days are press days), the car only has 63 models, all of which are already sold out.
