In the age old battle of heart and head, the head all too often gets the last word. As far as we can remember, the heart has been screaming out for us to but that blood-red, two-seater Ferrari that barks at you when you turn the engine on, and warps you into a state of driving bliss the road opends up above your steering wheel. The head on the other hand is the one that reminds us that we are better off buying that convenient SUV-crossover that will help get your growing family get to its destination safely. But, let’s imagine that there was a place where both heart and head could agree…
The car is called the GTC4Lusso T. It is the first four-seater Ferrari in history, and it will change everything.
The GTC4Lusso T addresses a whole new concept for Ferrari GT owners. A rear-wheel drive car that has all the Ferrari hallmarks of a versatile sports car, but now factors in the practicality of a day-to-day runaround.
The rear wheel drive function of the GTC4Lusso T and a light weight body allows the ride of the car to be nimble, but also more comfortable than its race-ready siblings. Although, with a maximum speed of 320 km/h the car is anything but slow.
On top of the car being comfy for day-to-day driving, it is also jacked up with a 3.9 litre V8 turbo engine, with a maximum output of 7,500 revolutions per minute and with all-out torque applied, this sticks between 3,000 and 5,250 rpm, just so you can really rip it around with control. With all of this power some form of safety has to be applied so Ferrari have integrated side slip control into the rear wheel steering, to guarantee a more rapid response to the steering wheel inputs, for when entering and exiting corners, at a fairly high speed that is.
As you’d come to expect, Ferrari has styled its car in a way that reinterprets previous coupé aesthetics, by giving it a streamlined, tapered shape that portrays a fastback like silhouette.
The interior is based on a dual cockpit construction in order to stimulate a shared driving experience for the driver and passenger and supporting this is the infotainment system projected on a 10.25’’ HD touchscreen. And if all of that is not enough, on request, the model can be fitted with exclusive 20’’ sports wheels.
