The company says it is working hard to meet the incredible demand

Sony has sold more PS5’s in just 12 hours of pre-orders, than it did in the first 12 weeks of the PS4.

Last month Sony opened up pre-orders for the next-generation console, but then shut down the service almost immediately. PlayStation then had to issue an apology, after seeing extremely high demand. That led to server crashes and many gamers being unable to secure a console.

Despite the mishap, Sony has said that despite the outages it still sold more PS5 units in that short period than the PS4 did in its first 12 weeks on shelves.

“The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been very, very considerable,” Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO Jim Ryan.

“It may well be that not everybody who wants to buy a PS5 on launch day will be able to find one,” he added, although the company is “working as hard as we ever can” to make sure there’ll be enough supply for the holiday season at the end of the year.

The PlayStation 5 is currently scheduled to launch on November 12 here in the UAE.
