It will be the restaurant’s 3rd restaurant in the Middle East

Hakkasan is expanding into Oman’s capital of Muscat, making it the Cantonese restaurant’s 11th location around the world.

The new restaurant will sit inside the St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat, and will officially open its doors at the same time as the hotel does in 2022.

For those unawares, Hakkasan is a high-end restaurant that champions Cantonese cuisine. It has held a spot on Esquire’s Best Rest Restaurants list for more than three years for its two UAE restaurants, one in Dubai and the other in Abu Dhabi.

Hakkasan started in London in 2001, quickly earning itself a coveted Michelin Star. Since then it has expanded to locations in the US, India, Asia and Europe – as well as the Middle East.

The Hakkasan group will also bring along with its namesake restaurant a new concept, called Kamasaka. The restaurant aims to channel Japanese ceremonial cuisine, and create contemporary Japanese food.

“Between the arrival of our flagship restaurant, Hakkasan, and the grand opening of our newest culinary masterpiece, Kamasaka, the possibilities to treat yourself at the exquisite St Regis hotel are endless,” said Angela Lester, executive vice president of business development for Hakkasan Group.

“Since 2013, we have worked alongside our partners at Alfardan Group to dazzle and delight our guests and can’t wait to unveil these new restaurants. Whether you prefer the luxurious, world-class experience that is Hakkasan or a breathtaking new adventure at Kamasaka, you will not be disappointed,” Lester said.

Hakkasan won’t be the only high-end Chinese restaurant in the region (far from it). We recently sat down with one of its closest competitors Hutong in Dubai. Does it compete?
