Every year, Dubai reminds us it is an international city, from hosting Expo, to showing Rugby World Cup games, to celebrating Oktoberfest. The German folk festival has officially began, so where can you celebrate?
Running from September 21 to October 6, Oktoberfest is held in Munich, the capital of Bavaria, if you can’t get time off work to fly to Germany, Dubai has a wide selection of places that embrace the event with pride.
Here’s a look at the places that will having you hopping for joy:
Biggles Pub, Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai

Limitless pints and 17 TV screens, need we say more? Biggles Pub is a legendary establishment boarding on old Dubai, it’s been around for over 20 years in fact. The pub has WWII aviation-themed memorabilia throughout and has a homey and relaxed feel.
Celebrating Oktoberfest every night till October 6, the pub is offering up Bavarian specialities, German-inspired activities, and more choices of hops than you can imagine. If that wasn’t enough, as a sports bar with over a dozen screens, there’s plenty of football and rugby to soak up.

Grand Hyatt Dubai

For an authentic Bavarian atmosphere, head to the Grand Hyatt in Dubai from the 9 to 26 October. Housed in an air-conditioned tent, Hyatt is offering up eating, singing, drinking, and dancing, not to mention an excuse to slip into your finest Drindl or Lederhosen, the traditional clothing for the celebration.
For AED 150, you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet bristling with Bavarian specialities. Other offers include drinking games and music from the Die Kirchdorfer Band from Munich, a traditional Bavarian talent.
For AED 250 per person, you can attend the more family-focused brunch and for AED 350, you can enjoy hops or grape with your food.

Grand Plaza Movenpick, Media City

From October 23 to November 9, Media City’s swanky Movenpick is having its first crack at the Bavarian festivities. Head inside its Munich-style tent and feel transported without having to shell out for a plane ticket to Germany. Taking stage every single night is the five-piece German band, Munchner Gaudiblosn.
Entry into the tent is totally free, with deals on litre-steins, a ladies night, broadcasted sports, and even tests of physical strength. There’s also brunches on offer serving up Munich classics. Brunches are priced at AED 179 with soft drinks, AED 375 with house drinks and AED 429 with house drinks and hops.

Brothaus Café, Business Bay

If you’d rather stay inside for Oktoberfest, head to Brothaus, the quaint café-bistro which will be going full Bavarian mode from September 20 to October 31. Every Frida and Saturday from noon until 5pm, it will host a Bavarian brunch for just AED 145, drinks too start at just AED 25.
Fully embracing the culture, if you rock up in the traditional Drindl or Lederhosen, you’ll receive a free pint on arrival. There are also stein-holding competitions, a live DJ, and happy hours.

Double Decker, Downtown Dubai

Running from September 27 to October, the old-school British themed pub Double Decker is offering up all thing Oktoberfest. The pub is made up of London buses and underground memorabilia, as well as familiar British pub décor.
The institution is whipping up what it calls ‘Funch’, a fun brunch, with Bavarian food, free-flowing drinks, live music and games such as giant Connect Four, Jenga, and karaoke. Funch is priced at AED 199 from 12pm to 4pm and a further AED 149 to carry on until 7pm.
