Everything’s going down on Thrones, but the Bloodmoon is rising

  • Cast of new prequel, Bloodmoon, has been filming in Belfast for the past two weeks
  • Naomi Watts will be the star of this prequel
  • The show is said to take place 5,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones
  • The rumoured title is ‘Bloodmoon’ with the series expected to come to screens sometime next year

The days leading up to the Game of Thrones finale may be long for the series’ countless fans, but fortunately there’s one thing they won’t need to wait for – the title of the GoT prequel-series.

George R.R. Martin had previously said that he thought the series – which will take place well before the current storyline – should be galled ‘The Long Night’. But the HBO showrunners have long-since stopped listening to Martin.

The title of the new Game of Thrones prequel series is supposedly ‘Bloodmoon’.

Two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts will take the lead role as a ‘charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret’. Joining Watts on set will be again double Oscar nominee Miranda Richardson, as well as Marques Rodriguez and John Simm.

Bloodmoon is said to take place 5,000 years before all the current Game of Thrones drama (in the show, not on social media). It is claimed the show will reveal ‘horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers.’ The series will give us the story of the ‘Children Of The Forest’, the original inhabitants of Westeros.

So it all sounds pretty exciting, but fans may not get their true GoT fix in this show as George R.R. Martin clarified that none of the GoT cast will appear in any fashion (which makes sense). Perhaps we can hope for a few nods for the fans and Easter Eggs, though hopefully not something like a Starbucks cup. Martin also wanted to make clear this is not a spin-off, it is its own show and should be treated as such.

We’ll have to wait till summertime according to some reports, in the meantime the final episode of Game of Thrones airs on May 19.
