The Seychelles has quickly become one of the most iconic travel destinations on earth.
But according to Sherin Francis, the CEO of Seychelles Tourism, it’s more than just pretty beaches (although, it does have a fair few of those).
In the latest Esquire Q&A podcast Francis admits that while it has become a popular destination for weekend breaks (as the island chain is just four-hours away from the UAE by plane) it is increasingly becoming a place where couples get married.
“There is a lot of competition – there are other destination island chains out there – but the Seychelles is special,” says Francis. “We have what those other islands have, but much more diversity. Many of our islands are completely untouched. We spend a lot of time on conservation, and that really shows when you visit many of the islands”.
Conservation is a concern for The Seychelles, but the country is taking positive steps towards ensuring tourism doesn’t affect nature in a negative way.
