As if!
What do people watch in Saudi Arabia? If a new study to be believed, they watch Cher Horowitz navigate the dramas of high school life in mid-90s Southern California.
That’s right, Saudi Arabia is watching Amy Heckerling’s 1995 classic Clueless, and I hope not sporadically.
The folks behind Comparitech, a tool where users upload what they’re watching, analysed the data of nearly 25,000 users and found that the Alicia Silverstone-starring film has captured the attention of Netflix users in the Kingdom more than any other, with Spongebob Squarepants the most popular TV series.

Clueless is not just popular in Saudi Arabia, however—it was the top film in the United States, Australia, and seven other countries. That made it the most popular film across the world according to their data, with Mean Girls in second as the most-watched film in five countries.
The study may not be reliable, however. Comparitech said that any country with results from fewer than seven users was removed, meaning it’s possible this is data from a grand total of eight people.
As Clueless fans ourselves, though, we can’t help but want to believe. The film has remained not only popular but also has seen its standing in the eyes of critics grow and grow, regularly listed among the most re-watchable cult films. It has spawned a comic book, television series, and even a musical.
We’ve reached out to Netflix to get the bottom of it, but in the meantime, what the heck, we’ve fired up Clueless for a rewatch.
