Microsoft has said that its next-generation consoles – the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S – will cost US$500 and US$300 respectively.
Both consoles are slated to be available here in the UAE on November 10, which is the worldwide release date.
Unlike Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, Microsoft has said it expects to production problems of the new console. That should mean – in theory – that anyone who wants the next-gen Xbox can pick one up.
The question is; how?
Well, Microsoft quietly announced via its UAE website that it would be accepting pre-orders on September 22 (that’s next Tuesday). Go here to check it out.
However, the website seems to suggest that we will see a slightly more expensive price tag for both next-generation consoles. Follow the “learn more” button on the website and it will give you a price of ‘USD 2,149’ for the Series X and ‘USD 1,249’.
We have seen this before on regional website, where the AED currency is replaced with USD. If true, then the UAE versions of the next generation Xbox will cost US$585 and US$340 respectively.
If true, that hardly seems fair! That would mean gamers in the UAE would be paying an extra 10-20 per cent over their international counterparts.
We have reached out to Microsoft UAE for comment. Stay tuned for updates as and when they come in.
Interesting in pre-ordering the Sony PlayStation 5 instead? Here’s how to get one in the UAE.
