The collection falls when comfort is very much bang on trend

At a time when ironic, dad-leisure dressing has become a brand’s dominant revenue, we encourage you to embrace a different, and altogether, more simple style of normcore: the humble chino.

We know, we know, your uncle probably has a pair. Your fourth-grade history teacher probably had a pair, too. There’s not a soccer-dad on the planet who doesn’t own a pair of the beige, boot-cut pants—but bear with us.

Having first found form in the 19th century for British military uniforms, the chino comes with a heady-dose of history that is not to be sneered at.

Counting David Beckham and Brad Pitt as big-fit fans, the oh-so-versatile trouser should be viewed as the cooler, less crease- prone older brother of the modest linen, and the best part? Wearing it in an array of kaleidoscopic hues won’t have you instantly looking like a public-school toff. From unpretentious khaki to duck-egg blue, the good guys over at Levi’s have got your back/legs covered.

Everyone’s favourite denim brand has broken its navy-washed mould in order to present you with: the Levi’s XX Chino. With the help of the impossibly cool singer Khalid (pictured), the new-season campaign celebrates three variant styles of slacks, including Esquire’s favourite: the centre-front creased straight crop.

The unpretentious-pant doubles-down on both style and comfort, and but remember the importance of a good, deliberate fit helps keep it more dapper than dad-wear. Levi’s 150-years-or-so of experience should leave you feeling pretty confident that they know their trouser-stuff—be it denim, or now, the heroic chino.
