TAG Heuer has added to its Aquaracer collection, with a set of his and hers watches with a fancy green dial.
The dial colour offers legibility, affordability and a colour you don’t see all too often, the new Aquaracer is a winner.
Caught up in the long and glamorous 50th birthday celebrations of the TAG Heuer Monaco, one could easily forget the brand has other watches. The latest Aquaracer in green is a timely reminder of the style the brand maintains across all its watches. The emerald green watches come in both a larger and smaller size, marketed for men and ladies.
The Aquaracer line is TAG’s diver-focussed line. Fittingly then the green dial watches are inspired by the blue and green colours found in the ocean.
Both watches fit the criteria needed for a good dive watch; the pieces are water resistant to 300 metres, have a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, luminescent hands and markers, a double secure clasp and uses sapphire crystal. What all this means is that water isn’t going to get in your fancy new watch, whether you’re in the shower or diving in the ocean.
The gents model clocks in at 43mm and is characterised by its wood panel-style stripes on the dial and the use of rhodium plated indexes and hands. The in-house Calibre 5 movement inside allows for the date, hours, minutes and seconds, as well as 38 hours of power reserve.
The ladies comes in at a more modest 32mm, along with a sunburst style dial and 11 diamonds set into the indexes. Unlike the larger 43mm version, the ladies model uses a Swiss-made quartz movement to keep the size down. The smaller model also sets itself apart as it does not use black lacquer in the bezel numerals as the male version does.
Both watches have the date window at the 3 o’clock position and perhaps take a page out of Submariner’s playbook, placing a handy cyclopes magnification over the window in the larger model. Unlike the Hulks and Kermits of this world, these watches are for sale right now and are a lot more affordable.
The mens goes for US $2,250 whereas the ladies is US $2,150. AED 8,780 (mens) and AED 8,380 (womens).
