Berluti is continuing to show that its fine leather is suitable for a vast array of uses.
Earlier this week, it released its first luxury collection of designer accessories for your home and now it has continued its fruitful partnership with Hublot and produced a watch clad in the Parisian cobbler’s artisanal Venezia leather.
The brands started collaborating four years ago and have since launched a series of premium watches. This new one goes back to basics, and saw Berluti’s creative director Kris Van Assche championing the Big Bang Unico chronograph – which is a first for the collaboration.
The new watch is covered almost head-to-toe in the brand’s unmistakable Veneiz leather, which is deep and burnished in appearance. The material can be seen around the Big Bang’s dial, and is actually sandwiched between two pieces of sapphire crystal.
That method of displaying and also protecting the leather comes from a special process developed by both brands to ensure that the leather does not change over time.
In earlier Berluti x Hublot models, the leather was traditionally limited to just the strap. This new collaboration goes to show just how much of Berluti’s signature material can be used in the watch.
This particular shade of leather is called Cold Brown, and is based on an archival coour that was discovered in the history books by Van Assche.
The watch is limited to just 100 pieces, and comes in a co-branded leather chest and Berluti shoehorn keyring and travel case.
The Big Bang Berluti Cold Brown is available now for around US$26,000.
