The horology forum will take place over the next two weeks

Dubai Watch Week is making a welcome return to the UAE, albeit digitally.

This will mark the sixth edition of the Horology Forum, a key part of Dubai Watch Week founded by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. The forum lets those in the watchmaking industry discuss all matters relating to horology, and this year is no different.

The forum will go live on October 24, 26, and 28 as well as November 9.

Topics include (and this is their phrasing, not ours):

Pump and Dumping 24K
A panel about brands and retailers unofficially selling luxury on the grey market to recoup investments.

Servants of Serpents
A panel about conspiracy and authenticity and whether the heart of the luxury industry beats in an organic market or is wound-up and coerced into ticking by specific entities

Means to the End of the World
A panel about the environment because as one of the world’s leading pollutants, the one thing we can’t afford is to stop talking about it

Rochambeau
Uncomfortably wincing, skirted questions we gathered from audiences and three virtual fists to fight to the death to avoid being ‘It.” The unlucky one has to answer the question. Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper and paper beats rock. Shoot!

About the Horology Forum
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – chairperson of Dubai Culture, the 6th edition of the Horology Forum will break with tradition and take place digitally, on the Dubai Watch Week YouTube platform. Some new formats will also be introduced; instead of moderators, panels will be led by individuals from the Dubai Watch Week Committee to play ‘Devil’s Advocate.’ As each panel airs, the audience will be able to pose their questions instantaneously by engaging in a live Q&A session through the comments on YouTube, with opportunity to submit follow up questions on social media in the days that follow.
