MB&F has just unveiled its latest Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO – which it bills as its first athletic watch.
The limited-edition update was released to celebrate the 15th year anniversary of the watchmaker, which puts high-end horology and art at the very core of its designs.
The new watch features a 44mm zirconium case with sapphire crystal over the face and case back. It makes use of a silver gray metal dial, whose fabrication is so complicated (the dust created when it is being produced can spontaneously combust) the material has only been used on two previous models.
It is powered by a hand-would LM Perpetual Engine, that despite being unveiled in 2015 remains an impressive bit of engineering. While traditional perpetual calendars assume every month has 31 days (and then skips ahead for shorter months) this version assumes each month is 28 days (and then adds additional days for longer months).

The reason for that is down to damaging the mechanism, which makes adjusting the date far safer on the movement (meaning for less need to be fixed in future).
The video that goes along with the launch features members of the design team using the watch in all sorts of active situation, such as dirt bike riding and running.
And while we are totally sold on this watch, we’re not sure that we’d be brave enough to throw a US$167,000 watch around in the elements. Still, to each his own.
The watch is available with either a blue, orange or black movement and each is available in a limited run of just 15.
